The £6.5million expansion project at the Burnley site began in mid-2003 and was completed in early 2005 with the factory virtually doubling in size to 380,000 square feet.. At the heart of the plan is a massive new state-of-the-art warehouse designed to keep VEKA plc ahead of rapidly-growing demand for its PVC-U home improvement products.

Among its features, the new facility includes:

• Up to 6,500 ‘stillages’, individual storage units connected by state-of-the-art retrieval systems

• Around 200,000sq ft of extra space – in addition to VEKA’sexisting 180,000sq ft

• An automatic conveying system to move product from the factory to thenew unit

The completed facility will make Burnley VEKA’s second biggest subsidiary after only the USA with its two plants at Pittsburgh and Reno.
